大篷车和房车停放位
All-weather hardstanding pitches that stay green, drain freely and take the weight of a fully loaded touring van.
为什么此处需要加固
Touring pitches take concentrated axle loads and jockey wheel point loads on ground that is often saturated. Gravel spreads and disappears; grass churns at the entrance and under the wheels. Reinforced pitches hold their shape season after season and keep the site looking like a site rather than a car park.
适用场景
快速概览
| Sub-base | 100-150mm MOT Type 1 |
|---|---|
| Infill | Angular 10-20mm gravel on wheel tracks and service strips, rootzone and grass elsewhere |
| Typical loading | Twin-axle touring caravans and motorhomes up to typical site limits |
| Permeability | Fully permeable. Normally treated as a SuDS component in a drainage strategy. |
| Design life | 25 years, subject to documented installation. |
| Material | 100% recycled polypropylene, made in the UK. |
安装步骤
- Mark out the area and excavate to the depth of your sub-base plus the grid depth plus your infill blinding.
- Lay a woven geotextile across the formation, lapping joins by at least 300mm. This stops the sub-base and the subsoil mixing.
- Lay and compact the sub-base: 100-150mm MOT Type 1. Compact in layers rather than all at once.
- Blind the sub-base with a thin layer of grit sand and screed it level. This is what gives you a flat finished surface.
- Push-fit the grids together across the area, working from one edge. Cut around obstacles with a jigsaw or fine-tooth saw.
- Fill the cells: Angular 10-20mm gravel on wheel tracks and service strips, rootzone and grass elsewhere. Work the fill in with a stiff brush so no cell is left hollow.
- Check the finished level. Nothing should stand proud of the cell walls, and no cell should be left under-filled.
Most installations are straightforward groundwork. The grids themselves push-fit together and need no fixings, adhesive or specialist tools.
选择哪种格栅厚度?
The 30mm heavy duty grid handles the wheel tracks, service strips and site roads. Use the 40mm general duty grid on grassed awning areas where you want turf to establish.
If you are between two options, take the heavier duty one. The cost difference across a typical project is small next to the cost of lifting and relaying a surface that was under-specified.
最常见的错误
Reinforcing only the wheel tracks. The pitch fails at the edge of the reinforced strip instead, and you get a step that catches jockey wheels.
常见问题
Will it take a fully loaded twin axle?
Yes. Correctly installed on an adequate sub-base, the system carries well beyond typical touring caravan loads.
Grass or gravel infill for pitches?
Gravel under the wheels and on the service strip, grass for the awning area. Many sites mix the two on a single pitch.
How does it handle jockey wheels and steadies?
Spread the point load with a pad as you would on any surface. The grid prevents the wider rutting that follows repeated pitching.
Is it suitable for a whole site access road?
Yes, with a deeper sub-base to suit service vehicle and delivery traffic.
What size should a hardstanding pitch be?
Follow your licence conditions. Most sites work to a pitch that accommodates the unit plus awning plus a car, with spacing between units.
Can we install it pitch by pitch?
Yes. Many sites upgrade a few pitches each closed season rather than doing the whole site at once.
